As anyone who reads this can see, I have neglected this blog for over 4 months. My apologies to myself as I think I am the only one who reads this.
Anyway, alot has happened in the time away. As I recall, had last given up on the exhaust modification on my '92 Honda Nighthawk 750. Well, I don't ride that anymore. I now ride a '95 Yamaha Vmax!!
This came to be because of a timing thing. A friend didnt like the Vmax ride and wanted a big cruiser. At the same time, Alex was wanting to get a bigger bike than his Ninja 250. So I put the Ninja 250 up on craigslist and had it sold in 3 hours. So with the Ninja gone, I bought the Vmax and handed down the Nighthawk to Alex.
In June, Alex and I took another trip to Eureka Springs AR. with the Vmax Houston Groups and Vmaxers from around the country. It was an awesome trip overall. There were 30 Vmax's on the trip, along with 10 other make and models.
However, there was a couple of incidents that occurred on this trip. Alex had a mishap on the the way up. While pulling off the road into a gas station, he hit a patch of gravel while braking and the front wheel went out from under him, laying the bike down sustaining minimal damage. It suffered a broken windshield and a bent brake pedal.
On the big ride on Saturday, a Vmax failed to make a decreasing radius turn and went off road.. Alex got caught up in the group as they were stopping. This time he wasnt so lucky. Alex high-sided getting thrown to the grass and the Nighthawk tumbled down the road.
This crash demolished the tach, damaged the handlebars, cooling fins, seat, muffler, turn signals, tank, fender, and exhaust. We have found a parts bike and are in the process of repairing the hawk, so I will post updates as the repair progresses.
